One of the chief executive officers of the Kenya Electoral Commission (IEBC) Dr.Roselyn Akombe has announced the resignation of the commission less than a week before the presidential election took place in the country.
Dr Akombe sent a statement from New York where he was working for the United Nations before joining the IEBC commission.
In a statement, Dr. Akombe said that the election prosecutions would not reach the prospect of free and fair election.
The IEBC Commission said it was suspended by Dr Akombe's decision to resign and promise to provide a detailed report. Chairman Wafula Chebukati is expected to address journalists later today.

Dr. Akombe was expected to be among the group of officers who went to Dubai to investigate the printing of poll papers.
Dr Akombe explored the Nyanza and the western areas, which are the opposition castle last week, while the commission is trying to train officials to manage the polls.
