The commentary, which has been declared illegal by the central government in Madrid, has set the country in a very serious constitutional dispute over the decades and resulted in an overcrowding of centuries between Madrid and Barcelona.
In spite of those measures, hundreds of people appeared in long runs in towns and villages in the province to vote for them. In one polling station in Barcelona, adults and women with children entered the first.
"I'm very happy because despite all the restrictions set out, I have been able to vote," said 72-year-old Teresa in Barcelona who was standing in the street for six hours.

Fourteen police officers from the national police force and two from the public protesters were injured while trying to prevent the ban of protest opinion in the Catalonian state.

The Spanish Ministry of Interior has provided information via the Internet, after health officials in the Catalonia region said 38 voters were injured after a "Spanish police" struggle, including nine in the hospital.
