Duterte and Abe to negotiate about North Korea


Philippian President, Rodrigo Duterte today is expected to meet Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo, with North Korea nuclear war being a major agenda for their negotiations.

Speaking to reporters before the meeting today, Duterte said he hoped Japan, the US and South Korea and China would consider sending him a representative for negotiations with North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, to help reduce the current dispute and prevent the occurrence of nuclear war, which he said was unacceptable.
'' It's going to be a wise thing if the United States, Japan and South Korea will persuade Mr. Kim Jong Un to sit down at the negotiation table and tell him that nobody is shocking and that there will be no war, '' said Duterte.

Duterte, who will have a two-day visit in Japan from today, said all world leaders agree that Kim is a dangerous person. The Filipino leader who is known for misuse and abusive speech against his critics, previously described Kim as' a fool '' accusing him of playing his dangerous games.

The Duterte tour takes place one week before US visit, Donald Trump in Asia, will begin in Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and finally Philippines. In addition, Duterte said he would welcome Trump in the Philippines as an important leader in his visit.
For his part Shinzo Abe plans to defend the US position against North Korea, when he meets Trump next week. At their present meeting, Abe and Duterte are also expected to talk about $ 8.8 billion in the five-year support that Abe promised to give during his visit to Philippines in January.
According to the Japanese news agency, Kyodo, the funds are for infrastructure projects, terrorism efforts and Marawi city rehabilitation. The city was destroyed during a five-month war between government forces and armed forces with a so-called Islamic Empire, IS, where more than 1,000 people were killed and five others were missing homeless.
